Confederation of Light’25

A charitable campaign

It came to pass that a madman usurped the throne. A man of petty rages and unrestrained whims. A man who, with the aid of his cadre of loyal supporters, dissolved the ancient traditions to seize unilateral rule.

I’m speaking, of course, of Goge Vandire.

If this story reminds you of anything else, I assure you it’s purely coincidental. Welcome to Confederation of Light ‘25, a charitable giving campaign to ring in the new year.

What is it?

Confederation of Light ‘25 is a community-based charity drive benefiting Planned Parenthood. It runs from December 1, 2024 through January 5, 2025.

How do I join?

When the event begins on December 1, you’ll be able to participate via:

Why now?

The world’s been a little bit darker lately. Both within and without the gaming community, cruelty seems to be gaining an edge day by day, and people are tired. In times like this, doing something is the best way to feel better.

I believe we have an obligation to create the world we want to live in. I’ve been involved in things like community organizing, mentoring, and political action for almost my whole life.

I don’t know if it works, but it’s definitely not making things any worse.

Frequently asked questions

Why Planned Parenthood?

There are a lot of fantastic organizations that could use the help, and if this goes well, I would love to expand that help to other groups. For now, I wanted to keep the scope manageable and choose an organization that’s registered in Instagram’s native fundraising tool.

I know this is an organization that operates solely within the United States. I’m especially grateful to international contributors.

Yeah, but why Planned Parenthood?

In honor of Alicia Dominica, the woman who saved the Imperium.

Also because in the United States, our rights are under attack. There’s a lot of places I could have started; this was the one I chose.

Planned Parenthood faces criticisms, including allegations of systemic racial discrimination. I chose to proceed with this charity anyway because of the good work they do, and because their presence in Instagram’s internal fundraising tool makes them easy to support. I hope this event will be successful enough that we can do this again in the hopes we can be a little more discerning next time. My philosophy is “don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good.”

Are you aware of the irony of using a satirical version of the Catholic Church to host a fundraiser for women’s health?

Yes.
